This beauty of a machine is a dream come true for medium to large sized businesses with a higher demand. An upgrade in comparison to single group espresso machines, I fell in love with this one instantly. The capability of being able to produce four times as much product, especially during the fall season is a weight off of my shoulders.
Incredible features of the Nuova Simonelli Aurelia include:
- Angled backing for optimal check-up
- Illuminating interior and well-lit
- Self-pump regulation
- Gold service plan
Since my shop is on a busy street, we definitely have our days where we can barely breathe. The first two features mentioned, the angled backing for perfect checking and the illumination features allow the baristas and me to make sure everything is filling up accordingly. The illumination is provided through the steam nozzle while it’s filling up the cup. However, my favorite feature of using this machine is the self-pump regulation. Instead of having a technician come out and regulating the pump, I can teach the baristas how to do this, which saves on labor costs. As a small to medium sized business owner, saving money where I can while providing a safe environment is essential in my worth ethic and workflow.
You can rely on the Nuova Simonelli Aurelia, as it was the official World Barista Championship machine for two years straight (2012-2014), providing thousands of cups of espresso to those visiting. With the display on this machine, you can control the temperature with one touch accurately, no matter how hot and sticky the climate outside may be.
As you know, this machine is ideal for locations that see a high-volume of customers, allowing the best accuracy and of course, consistency. More consistent than many appliances in this genre, there are also multiple versions of this machine to cater to your restaurant needs. These versions include a semi-automatic 3 group machine, a volumetric 4 group machine and a computerized/digital version. Whether you like the image of your brand to have mostly handcrafted espresso, or you’re content with mostly automatic, the Nuova Simonelli Aurelia can be tailored for your needs.
Like most commercial espresso machines, the electrical output of the Nuova Simonelli Aurelia is 220 for the standard range of 208V to 240V, while the amp draw is 28. The wattage is 6000 with a receptacle Nema 6-50. You won’t be breaking the bank while using this machine, but it does require some power! While wattage has a little bit to do with power consumption, the insulation of the machine itself (along with the boilers) will have a more positive affect on the utility bill! It’s a common myth from the rumor mill that wattage directly affects the water temperature – however, this couldn’t be further from the truth. A thermostat inside the machine is responsible entirely for the temperature, not how high the wattage is. The wattage should never be a deciding factor for the taste and temperature of the product.
As for disadvantages of the machine, the price is a little off-putting, but it’s entirely worth it, as it quadruples the production of your business. It makes its money back. This is entirely made up for through their Gold Service Plan that includes:
- Single contact point for all services / issues with the machine
- Damage inspection of the machine
- Bench test machine
- Installation coordination
- Water quality and clarity testing
You won’t have to call an external laborer when you have an experienced customer service representative at your hand, guiding you through. The aforementioned and the impressive operation of this machine is the sole reason why I purchased this for my business. As a recommendation from someone else and many hours of research, I had finally upgraded and tested for myself. I was glad that I did!
